KESMAR Puts The Fun In Funk With ‘Meteorite’

Sydney-based producer/songwriter KESMAR has released his new single Meteorite, and disco is alive and well. Written with I Know Leopard lead singer Luke O’Loughlin, it’s as refreshing as a slice of cucumber in a tall glass of water. If you’re a fan of a bassline that shows off, rather than slinking back into the darkness, then Meteorite is the track for you.

Disco music can be a bit hit or miss for me, because it isn’t always the best choice for the track. However, Meteorite isn’t trying to make any particular point - it’s just KESMAR trying to get people dancing. KESMAR’s proven that he has a disco ball inside of him, and Meteorite sees him getting the party going. Every time I think disco is dead, another artist brings it back. KESMAR might just be the king of disco in Australia.

Speaking about the track, KESMAR says, “I invited Luke around to my home studio in Annandale, Sydney to make some music together. I started with some pre-recorded live drums as Luke made his way over to the keys, next thing we knew it was 7pm and we were both listening to a semi-finished demo.

”I worked on the production for a day or two after then it sat on my laptop for months. Finally then bringing it to my long time collaborator and friend Tobias Priddle. I really didn't want to give too much away on this track, I feel like it’s open for everyone’s own interpretation.” You don’t need to overthink anything when you’re listening to Meteorite. Just let the groove wash over you, and transport you to a dancefloor far, far way.

Check out Meteorite below. If nothing else, it’s worth giving the video a watch - it’s genuinely one of the best music videos I’ve seen this year (it’s extremely kitsch). Of course, by doing so, you’ll also receive a healthy dose of funk into your life. Either way, you’ll be a winner.
