Melbourne pop artist TAMS/N OTWAY has just released her new track You, and from the get-go you’ll be drawn in by her smoky vocals. Drawing influence from the likes of Lana Del Rey, The Cranberries and more, it’s a track that she describes as being a “little sad and a little sexy.” If you’re a fan of tropical house production, or just want to get lost in TAMS/N’s voice, then you’ll enjoy You. Her sound is always evolving, and she’s already proving that there’s something for everyone when she drops a new track.

There’s something cinematic about TAMS/N’s vocals, and they feel both classical and contemporary. The production on the track makes it feel very much rooted in the present day. However, close your eyes and focus on the vocals, and you could be in a jazz bar listening to a singer from the ‘50s or ‘60s. It’s an interesting juxtaposition of sounds, and it’s one of the reasons that TAMS/N is turning heads. She’s combining different eras of music, and producing a sound that is fast-becoming her signature (though, each release sees her tweaking what she’s making).

Speaking about the track, TAMS/N says it’s a result of a relationship that drives you to go in search of something more. "This song is about having a fling that actually makes you realise you want something better, with someone better… leaves you 'wanting something more' as the lyrics go". It’s a great reminder that you’re worth nothing less than the best, and if that’s what you want, then go chase it. TAMS/N wants you to know just how important you are.
